Tione catches the eye of the king who destroyed her homeland and is taken as his queen. Forced to live as his “beloved doll,” she must always act like an emotionless plaything while being used as a political tool. When a wound on her face mars her beauty, she is discarded and sent off as tribute to the beastman kingdom of Gwi.
There, Tione—unaccepted by humans or beastmen and with no place to belong—meets Zogano, the king of Gwi, whose thoughts no one can read. Instead of treating her as a broken offering, Zogano chooses to take her as his bride.
