In the mid 21st century, the human race is facing a test. Genetic engineering has changed the world, and with huge profits, research had accelerated accordingly. An “immortality” gene no longer seemed like a mere dream. However, a lab sample containing this gene escaped, creating a new life-form that took in genetic material from the natural world, evolving into an enemy that began to invade the human world. The “Shaher” are now a force capable of defeating human military forces, and both North and South American continents have fallen under their control. In Japan, the government has created a “Samurai” unit to oppose the Shaher, utilizing soldiers enhanced with nano-machines to connect with an armored exoskeleton. Lucca, a half-elf boy, breaks into a nobleman's mansion to steal, but is caught by the military police. Just as Count Caenis is about to sacrifice Lucca, he is rescued by Michael, a demon hunter bearing the crest of the crowned wings...!?

Margaret Garcia (nicknamed Maggie), a brilliant doctor who became the youngest person to receive the highest medical degree, the Golden Bachelor's degree, encounters a strange man on her way to Reitel, the town where she grew up. This man, Mikael Largeness, is covered in scars and claims to be a hunter. After treating Mikael's wounds and learning that he is also headed to Reitel, Maggie hires him as her bodyguard. However, as soon as they arrived in Reitel, Maggie was arrested on suspicion of assassinating the bishop. The priest, who had died 13 years earlier in a religious factional dispute in Reitel, had been resurrected as a minion of darkness and was seeking revenge. Michael, a "demon hunter" who makes a living hunting darkness, takes on the priest. He defeats the priest, but is critically wounded, and Maggie saves him. After parting ways with Maggie, Michael leaves Reitel. And one year later, their destinies would take a dramatic turn...
