Futaba (the protagonist), who lives with her father an art dealer comes into possession of an ancient kagura bell. It was the key to awakening her powers as an onmyoji.

“I want you to use that power to protect the imperial capital.”
Appearing before a bewildered Futaba were
spirits (ayakashi) bound to her by ties from a past life.
“I remember now. Our final promise.” Conspiracies stir in the shadows of the Meiji Restoration. The tragedy of a thousand years ago gradually comes to light. Now, once again, the story of Futaba and the spirits’ fate begins.
