Beautifully illustrated, and deftly demonstrating an innate sense of the power of color palette, Oku’s collection boasts folktales hailing from Kyoto’s Honnoji Temple, folklore surrounding Nagano’s Biwa-Ike, and many more short stories of all manner passed down throughout Japan!

Love, joy, sorrow, and regret live on—evocative as ever—in this imaginative 21st century visual retelling of ancient tales.

Ch. 3 Content Warning: Suicide.
