Battlefield Manga Short Stories (MOCHIZUKI Mikiya)

Series that collects single tankoban war manga that Mochizuki made throughout his career.

The order is as follows:

• Volume 1 - The New Story of the Second Gen Corps (新・二世部隊物語, Shin Niseibutai Monogatari, ALT. ENG. - The 4 Days of the Dead), 1996 - The paratroopers are made up of a small number of elite, brave soldiers who invade deep into the enemy's territory and attack mainly by surprise.
  If they survive, they are brave, but if they make a mistake, they are exposed defenseless to the enemy forces and killed without being able to fight back. Forty paratroopers descend into enemy territory where Nazi soldiers are waiting for them, and most of them are killed. The fate of a young soldier hanging from a tower in the midst of enemy forces!

• Volume 2 - The Escape of Adolf (アドルフの脱出, Adolf no Dasshu, ALT. JAPN. - 生還 , Seikan, ALT. ENG. - Still Alive), 2003 - Berlin, the German capital, one week before Hitler's death. The city is devastated by Allied air strikes, and Soviet ground troops are closing in.
  Lieutenant Suzuki, a Japanese officer called "Gaijin" dispatched by the Japanese government, is taken into custody by the Gestapo, the Nazi secret police, on suspicion of robbing antiques and slaying three guards with a Japanese sword...

• Volume 3 - The 5/14 Rebellion (反乱5・14, Hanran 5 .14) - A man takes a sightseeing bus to the village of Sanroku, called a phantom village near Lake Mashu in Hokkaido, and sees all the people around him killed by the machine gun of a tank that suddenly appears.
  He is then pursued by a terrifying group of people who are plotting to establish an independent Hokkaido. The man manages to escape back to Tokyo and comes back to Hokkaido with his friends to find out the truth...

• Volume 4 - Shiden Kai (紫電改,) - A POW camp was set up on an isolated island in the South Sea where a U.S. Air Force airfield was located. Flight Sergeant Funada, who is interned there, was thinking of escaping by plane. One day, he finally carries out his escape plan using a Shiden Kai captured by the U.S. military...
  In addition to the title story, the collection also includes tales of other famous aircraft such as the Hien, Gekko, and Naryu.

• Volume 5 - Bloody Sunday (血の日曜日, Chi no Nichiyobi) - Hawaii around 1941, when the population of Japanese Americans was said to be 100,000 and most of them were poor except for a few successful ones. A young boy named Raida spent his days skipping school and earning money from smuggled goods.
  On December 7, 1941, Japanese fighter planes launched a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, leading to the outbreak of war between Japan and the United States. Six months passed, and the boys of Japanese descent living in Hawaii became the Second Gen Corps...

• Volume 6 - A Diffused Reflection (乱反射, Ranhansha) - In a small town in South America, a bar is abuzz with excitement over the World Cup and the Brazilian team is on the attack.
  The bar is infiltrated by an assassin who is targeting the ambassador. The police interrogate a drunken Japanese, a quiet painter, and others, but time passes without finding the assassin...?

• Volume 7 - The Golden Mercenaries on the 13th (13日の金傭兵, 13-nichi no Kinyouhei) - 1941, German-occupied Poland. A group of looters called the Black Pigeons are active in the darkness. The leader, a young boy, is ruthless and vile, but his leadership is so strong that his friends cannot resist him.
  Meanwhile, the German army, annoyed by the Black Pigeons, dispatches SS Lieutenant Hecker, an SS officer specializing in guerrilla hunting, from their headquarters...
