With the Demon Lord's army posing an ever-growing threat, Usato and his companions continue their journey across the continent, delivering letters and seeking the cooperation of neighboring nations. After leaving the Kingdom of Prayer, Samariarl, on their way toward Mialark, the group discovers something unexpected: a town hidden deep within a mist-covered valley that doesn't appear on any map. The town is called Rest Valley, and everything about it seems almost too good to be true. Led by Meena, the daughter of the local innkeeper, its residents welcome Usato and his companions with open arms. The people are friendly, demi-humans face none of the discrimination found elsewhere, and everyone seems to enjoy a peaceful, prosperous, and cultured way of life.
