Sakuraba Kota is a pretty ordinary student and a member of the news club. One day, while he's looking into some recent incidents for his club, he runs into an enormous, dangerous creature. He learns that it is one of the powerful beasts that causes disasters and grows by eating the souls of the people they attack. Luckily, he is rescued by two "Contractors," people who form a contract to use one of the 4 god powers: Fire, Water, Wind and Earth. The two contractors are Suzaku Mikoto, a hotheaded fire wielder of an established contractor family, and Byakko Yuna, a pretty female wind wielder who follows Mikoto.

The next day, he learns he hasn't seen the last of Mikoto and Yuna-- Mikoto is a new transfer student in his class, and Yuna is his class's new assistant teacher. Life is about to get more dangerous and exciting as Kota finds himself caught up in Mikoto and Yuna's fight to protect people from these dangerous beasts!
