Chiharu Hiiragi, who's been held back a year and can't fit in with his classmates, is taking a chemistry remedial class in the infirmary when he finds himself sitting next to a classmate who's incredibly shy and covered in a sheet. She's covered in a sheet like a ghost, her face is hidden, and her conversation is awkward. Yet, for some reason, being with her is comforting. They start talking about their ages, their school, and the secrets they both have that they can't quite put into words. As they gradually start talking, their after-school lives begin to change.
