I pray every dayfor this love to die.
That I may love you only until today,
and by tomorrow, may this love be dead.

-Born of an affair, the ill-fated imperial princess Thalia Roem Guirta.

She grows up twisted beneath the neglect of indifferent parents, hostile half-siblings,
and servants who look upon her with contempt.
To survive, Thalia learns to protect herself by baring her thorns at everyone who comes near.
And yet, even she becomes utterly defenseless before one man.

That man is Varkas Raedgo Seorkan, the noble young lord of the East.

A vassal of the imperial family and heir to a grand duke,
he was raised under relentless pressure to be perfect.
Shaped by discipline so harsh it bordered on abuse,
he grew up with most of his emotions long since numbed.
A man who exists solely for his family’s honor and duty.

To keep a promise made to the late empress,
he becomes engaged to Ayla, Thalia’s half-sister.

And Thalia, consumed by despair, begins to slowly break apart.

But then—

the love fated to end in her death reaches an unexpected turning point….

Place Holder (Novel Reader)

I am about half way thru the novel. Just wanted to drop a review of what to expect. This is based of being halfway thru the novel, will most likely update once I have finished. Just a little busy with finals right now so might be a little bit. WILL NOT SAY ANYTHING MAJOR. First off this is not the same as more popular Villainess tagged titles such as "Villains Are Destined to Die" (worth the read if you haven't seen it). The novel is in a much more mundane standard, there is not something constantly happening,...

A high point in storytelling

Honestly, I think the strongest part of this one is the narrative sequence created by the artist. If you peel back that, the story is pretty mundane. Is it in a way a misery fest? Yes. Are all the characters also all horrible? Yes. But the way it is illustrated has been pretty engaging and enhances the story to an incredible degree. The pacing and being able to see the MC’s inner thoughts, and being able to read the story without the other characters expositionning theirs does give this air of constant tension. It...

Misery p*rn

The good things: Story is genuinely something new Characters are all distinct and really fleshed out At least for the mc, her character is pretty well explained and her behavior actually makes sense The story (so far) is pretty intelligently written. If you possess a certain amount of empathy, you will understand her pretty well. The art is great. The bad things: Everyone is an AH. There isn't a single person here where I'd say they have a pleasant character. At least with fml we get to see her transition from you...
