The Illusion of Complicity

At the clock tower of a prefectural Maruyama High School in a certain region, there were about 50 people initially trapped in a conflict with the school authorities, but the day before they were forcibly removed by riot police, Tatsuhiko Yabuki, Ryoko Misaki, Shiro Hasumi, and Yukio Hiiragi were arrested. The number was reduced to four. After finishing his last meal of instant ramen for dinner, Tatsuhiko Yabuki started talking in front of everyone. "It's not a big deal that the number of (sequestrians) has decreased.'' "What I'm concerned about is why it's "the last four'' and not ``the last one.'''' "Why?'' "Who are we?" "I want to know why the four of us remained." Then, Tatsuhiko, Ryoko, Shiro, and Yukio each begin to talk about their past.
