Imagine a time when the house and family were valued more than the individual, women always obeyed men, and women did not have the right to vote. With the defeat of the war, women in Japan, who were in such a winter period, were given a "bud" in the form of a gender equality clause in the Constitution. Why did Beate Sirota draft the Equality Clause? We trace her life and the process of drafting the Constitution.
