Ai, the daughter of the long-established Japanese confectionery store "Kagetsuan," is taken by her grandmother to a tea party, where she meets an eye-catching and beautiful man, Katsuragi, the heir to a major confectionery company. However, although she never spoke to him and thought they would never be involved in the future, they ran into each other again a few weeks later on their way to a dinner party to celebrate her grandmother's 77th birthday. Katsuragi also tells Ai that he has proposed marriage to her...? Ai is perplexed by this sudden proposal, but when she hears from her brother about the situation at Kagetsuan, she decides to enter into a political marriage in order to keep the store running...?
