Battleship Nagato must move forward despite her grief for her recently sunken sister ship, Mutsu. But in her attempts to do so, urged to action by the admiral, she encounters a civilian who looks exactly like the Mutsu she recently lost? With a construction of a new Mutsu in part two (a little Theseus' ship scenario) and explorations on the sociopolitical implications of 'ship girls' in a post-war society, this three-part series may be more than the common yuri oneshot. The title of this Kancolle one-shot Oka no Ue no Gunkan (“Battleship Above the Hill”) is likely a play on Saka no Ue no Kumo ("Clouds Above the Hill"), a Japanese historical novel by Shiba Ryōtarō originally published from 1968 to 1972 in eight volumes. A thirteen-episode television drama based on the novel aired on NHK from 2009 to 2011.

This is a story about Miho and Maho running away from home during summer vacation.
