Furudori Yayoi

A series of biographical oneshots by various mangaka, published in 2009-2010 by Asahi Shimbun. Each issue focuses on a different notable figure from Japanese history. When the calender changed to the Seika era, the government of Japan introduced the Media Betterment Act (MBA). The MBA is an act that allows the government to stop any publication that it deems unsuitable for the public. The same government that enacted the MBA then introduces another act, the Freedom of the Libraries Law (FLL). It allows libraries to become self governing bodies with defense force units. Under the FLL, The Library Defense Force is created.

At her grandmothers funeral 5 years ago Touno Mariko saw her grandmothers ghost. Ever since then she has been able to see ghosts. One day when visiting her grandmother she accidentally angers an old spirit and is saved by Takenaka Masato. Masato works for a spirit travel agency, which is exactly what it sounds like. As fate would have it Mariko now has to work for this agency to pay off her debt to the angered spirit.
