Katayama Makoto

A series of biographical oneshots by various mangaka, published in 2009-2010 by Asahi Shimbun. Each issue focuses on a different notable figure from Japanese history. The main character is a girl who has a mysterious ability that allows her to gain the power of the troops receiving combat rations by eating them. In order to create an army made up of people with special abilities, she scouts her friends, but the people she scouts are eavesdroppers, bombers, yakuza, etc., and she goes out of her way to lure them in.

Modern Japan - One night when a meteor shower fell, dungeons infested with strange monsters appeared all over the world. People all over the world were now able to check their own "status". The days of peace have come to an end, and it has become people's duty to go into dungeons and hunt monsters. All humans are ranked according to their status, and the main character, Takashi Nakamura, who only has the lowest-ranked abilities, is ridiculed, but spends his hard days hiding in dungeons as a burden carrier for the strong. However, Takashi's fate begins to change when he encounters the B-rank monster Argos in the dungeon. Takashi can now freely teleport to a game-like fantasy \[different world], and his experience points there can now be reflected in his current status.

This is the fictional story of an all-female German tank squad, which was "lost in the darkness of history," called Schaferhund. They're fierce fighters who don't fear death, and who think of themselves as expendable. They are typically up against the resistance, who will even use children to murder German soldiers. One day, they get a new commander, a young man who values the human lives of the people under his command. There's plenty of friction between the former acting commander of the squad, Kaya, and the new commander–and not only because he accidentally saw her (and many other female soldiers) mostly naked. What will the future hold in store for Schaferhund?
