Ai is a middle school boy surrounded by mysteries. It's almost impossible to harm him, for one. Then there's a girl that appears next to him when he sleeps, a girl who doesn't breathe. Finally, there's a portal in an alley in his town that only he can see. One day he enters that portal and finds himself transported to a whimsical world that holds the answers to his mysteries.

Haruka and Saya spend their days living peacefully with their father in a small town. However, when a new neighbor moves in, unusual events suddenly start taking place. Strangely enough, they all seem to be related to Haruka and Saya's mother who passed away some time ago…

Chapter 3 (Heaven's Fairy): Shinobu's plans for the summer are ruined when her mother sends her off to her grandparents' countryside home. Bored and friendless, she prepares herself for a long, dreary holiday – but soon discovers that she has something in common with her grandfather – something quite magical…literally! Story 4, Foxfire (josei): An adopted girl comes to terms with her family. Story 5, Box (seinen): An abused girl loses her mother. Story 6, Angel's Ladder (shoujo): The story of the relationship of two sisters – one sickly and abusive, and the other struggling to cope with her.

Under the Rose is a love story between two sisters who meet years after their birth.

Nowhere to Go is another girls' boarding school story, but the deviousness of one of the main characters is what makes it memorable. It has a sequel called In the Afternoon….

One rainy day, the young woman Natsuki encounters a high school student in the street. Acting on an impulse, she gives the girl her umbrella and walks away. It turns out later that the girl, Michiko, is the younger sister of Natsuki’s sister’s newly-married husband. Even though Michiko has a difficult personality and doesn’t open herself to others easily, she seems to be attracted to Natsuki. Thus begins an unusual friendship between two unlikely characters who need each other more than they first realize… The main story (Cotton) was released as four chapters. The Secret Stairs is a supernatural story set at a girls' boarding school. It focuses on friendship between girls.

The manga is based on a dramatic tragedy diary written by Aya Kito, published shortly before her death. The diary, a true story based on her own life, was originally written in first person. It is about a girl coping with her teenage life along with a degenerative disease. She keeps a diary of not only what she does but how she feels and the hardships she must endure. Initially, the diary's purpose was for Kito to chronicle impressions she had about how the disease was affecting her daily life. As the disease progressed, however, the diary became Kito's outlet for describing the intense personal struggles she underwent in coping, adapting, and ultimately trying to survive her disease.
