Ryo, a water-attribute magician, plans a comfort trip not to indulge in his favorite sweets, but to heal his friend Abel. The destination he chooses is Candia Island, where a grand festival is being held. While enjoying the warm welcome from the cheerful villagers, Ryo and his companions learn that the festival is a memorial service honoring a magician and an elf who fought to the death for the island—lovers who sacrificed their lives for it. However, before the group could dwell on history, a suddenly enraged magical beast attacks the village! Ryo confronts it to protect everyone... but for some reason, his signature water magic won’t work!? A desperate comfort trip on an isolated island with no help in sight!?

Three years have passed since the war for the kingdom's liberation. Ryo, a water-element magician who was appointed the head duke of the Knightley Kingdom, enjoys a leisurely life devoted to alchemy and farming, traveling between the royal capital and Rondo Forest. However, being a nobleman does not mean he can avoid trouble. After climbing the castle, he is forced to take part in negotiations with the Debuhi Empire, and then joins a diplomatic mission heading to the far western countries. While everyone is excited by the signs of a new battle, Ryo remains as laid-back as ever, saying, "I want to see a golem!!"

Upon being reincarnated into a fantasy world, Ryo wants to live out his days in peace with his newfound water magic. He can only conjure a cupful at a time, but it's enough to eke out a comfortable existence — or so he thought. The powers that be cast him into the wild outlands with nothing more than a humble shack, a single knife, some food... and abilities that are yet beyond his comprehension. The area is overrun by monsters and there's nary another human in sight. Ryo must now figure out how to survive above all else, but he's ready to take bulls, boars, and a whole host of other monsters by the horns if it means seizing the life he wants for himself. Each new victory brings a new challenge, but what could a fateful encounter with a headless horseman, a dragon, and a castaway swordsman have in common? They're the first steps on a grand journey that will take Ryo beyond the borders of all he knows to become the greatest water magician the world has ever seen — one adventure at a time.
