Naoto Machimura inherited the small-town factory his father had treasured, only to ultimately watch the business go bankrupt. Then, before he knows what's happening, Naoto finds himself reincarnated in another world called Aidis. There he encounters Volgan, the God of Smithing, and is appointed to serve as the god's representative. But rather than becoming a legendary swordsman or setting off to defeat a Demon King, Naoto receives a calling much closer to the life he left behind: making things. Armed with the craftsmanship and manufacturing knowledge he developed working in a Japanese factory, Naoto begins solving the problems of his new world's inhabitants one project at a time. Gods need things made. Beastfolk need practical solutions. Even kings eventually come looking for the unusual craftsman capable of producing things nobody else can. And Naoto isn't working alone.
He soon finds himself sharing a home with Lou, a beautiful war goddess, while meeting gods, magical beasts and people from across the world whose problems can be solved through the skills of an ordinary Japanese craftsman. The factory Naoto couldn't save in his previous life may be gone, but everything he learned there came with him. In a world of gods and magic, Japanese craftsmanship might prove every bit as miraculous as a legendary weapon.
