Amidst the turbulent times of 1920s Shanghai, Shion, a student engrossed in reading the newspaper, is approached by a woman. Her name is Shiulang, the wife of a military commander; she asks the well-educated Shion to write a letter on her behalf. Through exchanged words, the two are drawn to each other despite occasional clashes. Yet, a reality that promises no future together and inevitable changes of the times painfully tears their feelings apart.

In ten or so years, in a future where resurrecting the dead is an everyday occurrence, the moon will collide with the Earth, bringing with it the end. Before the apocalypse happens, Nekuro confesses to her best friend Kiri, who, seeing no hope for the future, takes her admirer's confession half-joklingly, until one day, Nekuro dies.
