Taichi is a fat teenager and a horrible embarrassment to his little sister, Mika. She saves her own image by refusing to acknowledge him in public, but that won't work forever. In order to solve the problem, she enrolls him at a boxing gym, hoping the exercise will make him lose weight. At first, Taichi is very hesitant about the whole idea. Soon, though, his trainer Kurata's tough encouragement makes him feel like he might actually be able to become good at this sort of thing. But while the boxers at the gym accept him as a fattie coming in to jump rope and hit punching bags, will he be able to get them to accept him as a boxer-in-training? And does he have what it takes to become an actual boxer?

A murder of a family occurs in Gotenyama, Musashino City. The case is called "Code 5" and is handled through a different route than usual. A few days later, Sudou Hiromi, the investigator assigned to the case, receives a disturbing call. Houshou Aiko, the girl who was the victim in the incident, has come back to life. Sudou rushes to the research institute where Aiko is being held. There, he hears that Aiko's return to life is an "anomaly," an event that cannot be described as a miracle. In fact, Aiko had a "deformity" in her left arm.

This short manga is based on the novel; Sugar Candy Bullets Can’t Pierce Anything. The plot follows two girls and their summer-time adventures in a rural area. Nagisa Yamada is a bored teenager who finds everyday life extremely unappealing - thus she plans on joining a Military School as soon as possible. A strange new student named Umino Mokuzu (who claims to be a mermaid) transfers into Nagisa's school and, much to our heroine's bewilderment, soon begins to follow her around incessantly. Initially, an annoyed and discomfited Nagisa strives to avoid any encounters with Mokuzu. But she soon begins to comprehend the pain and sadness concealed beneath this strange girl's cheerful and carefree demeanour...
