Yamada Takatoshi

There were four fourth-graders who were good friends on Koshiki Island. Abe Takashi, son of a fisherman, Ishidaira Kyou, who is good at studying and sports, Nakahara Kou, who just recently transferred from the mainland, and everyone's idol girl, Yamada Miyuki. When Hoshino Ayaka, a nurse at the clinic, tells them that they could see a star-filled sky in a cave at night, they snuck out of the house without telling their parents and infiltrated the cave. There, they were able to see a starry sky that looked like a night sky filled with countless twinkling noctilucent insects. But then the tide comes in and the cave is flooded, and the seawater keeps coming into the cave. If nothing is done, the entire cave will be submerged. Will the four be able to survive?

Mash, a boy living in Marseille, in the south of France, draws portraits every day to support his disabled father, Voss, but then an opportunity presents itself. A drawing contest is held for the city's citizens. If he wins, he will receive 10,000 francs and the chance to study at an art school in Paris. At first, Mash gives up because he has no oil paints, brushes or other art supplies. However, with the help of his childhood friend, Sophie, he is able to acquire the tools he needs to deal with the problems that arise in his daily life. Just when he thinks he is on track to meet the deadline, his father, Voss, who is against him becoming a painter, tears up his paintings and throws them away. There is only one day left until the deadline, and it seems that all is not well until Mash finds an extraordinary way to complete the painting. Will he be able to enter the competition with the work he painted in one day? And will he make it to Paris, the capital of art?

Gotou Kensuke (a.k.a. Dr. Koto), a brilliant surgeon who had been working at a famous university hospital in Tokyo, took responsibility for a medical error and came to the remote island of Koshiki, which had been without a doctor for three months. The clinic there lacked medical facilities and was unable to provide full-scale treatment or surgery, and could only send patients to a hospital on the mainland, a six-hour boat ride away. Then a village boy came down with acute appendicitis! Will Koto continue to transport them to the mainland? The story depicts the activities of Kujiragi Yuu, who has solved numerous difficult cases. Although Kujiragi himself sometimes faces danger, he solves the cases with his own dynamism and deductive powers. The plot is based on actual events and incidents, with scientific evidence.
