One day, Raizo, an employee of the guild Finance, which runs the space economy, also known as the collection agency, becomes the master of twin girls as soon as he puts on a ring that was among the confiscated items. He decides to raise the twins, naming them Hime and Hina. The girls also adore Raizo as their father, but once the seal is broken, the twins have tremendous power, which is enough to effortlessly eliminate any threat that Raizo and the others can handle. Hina and Hime, along with Raizo and his boss Summon, become members of the guild and confront various incidents caused by those who disrupt the space economy and public order.

Comic Gunbuster is a compilation of short stories involving the main characters from "Aim for the Top" which take place during the time of the first OVA. Some of the stories include Kazumi Amano's marriage to Coach Ota and Noriko and Jung playing golf on the Moon.
