Don't expand my review if you want to avoid spoilers
It's a very "realistic" story. But at the same time still a fantasy. The author tried a bit too hard to subvert expectations (eg. his dad goes to war, dies, and he only hears about it 2 years later, it feels a bit too hard trying to be edgy). The story is mostly action, with some funny dialogue here and there but not in a comedic tone, more so in a "fun" tone. It's not focused on comedy, don't expect that. Art is amazing. Sadly I can't put a spoiler mark in a review. Sadly I can't put a spoiler mark in a review....
