Kitaoka Souta, born in Shizunai, Hokkaido, to a family that ran a restaurant called Kitaoka, moved to Toukyou for training in order to rebuild his family's rundown restaurant. There, he was discovered by the owner of Tomikyuu, a long-established ryotei restaurant in Ginza, where he underwent rigorous training, eventually becoming the head chef at Tomikyuu. After that, he went on a culinary journey until he opened his own restaurant, Tomikyuu Kamui, in Nerima, Tokyo.

A few years later, Souta is back at it again, this time to pursue the essence of hospitality, just in time for the 2020 Toukyou Olympics! The long-awaited revival of the classic culinary manga!
