After the war, Anna’s restaurant held her village together. She took in strays and sowed farms from war-torn fields. When the lumbering bear of a man, Bertram, wanders into town, she puts him to work chopping onions. He doesn’t shed a single tear. Instead, he offers his services to repay a debt to her late father. Meanwhile, Bertram, stripped of his ability to feel emotion, is not immune to Anna’s warmth. As forces converge around the village, a charming tale of curses, loss, and love simmers.

A Wonderful Series from Start to Finish

It's been a while since I read a series with this kind of vibe, and honestly, it was really refreshing! One thing I really liked was the understanding between the ML and FL. They actually communicate clearly instead of dragging things out with unnecessary misunderstandings. The side characters are great too, and I have to say, the art quality is absolutely beautiful. Overall, this is such a wonderful series. I really enjoyed reading it!

The character dynamics and relationships are great, and even though some of the plot points can be guessed it one of the most unique and enjoyable reads I've had in a while. The focus also being on a post-war village gives a very different perspective than usual. Plus I can never say no to a strong female lead.
