Shinji Nagashima

On Feb 9th, 1989, legendary manga author Osamu Tezuka died after a prolonged hospital stay due to Stomach Cancer. Months later, Asahi Journal ran a Special issue as homage to Tezuka's legacy. In this issue, a bunch of his contemporaries, as well as some of his own assistants, drew up tribute pages to mourn their fallen colleague. This listing is for the translated tribute pages.

Boon is an elementary school student who lives happily with his brother-like classmates at a rural school. A dispute with the school's students, who always bully him, eventually turns into a big deal...!?

The story is set at a beach, where a young boy walks in the sand before sitting down. Crowds come in to enjoy playing in the ocean, and then leave, with trash scattered all across the sand behind them. Suddenly the scene jumps to a hospital office where an old man with a cigar is telling a younger, thinner guy something about cancer, the amount of money involved, the idea that the money might stay in the family, etc. Then the scene shifts back with the boy standing up, brushing the sand off his seat and walking back home.

What is youth, what are men and women, and what is human happiness? A hymn to humanity by master artist Shinji Nagashima, dedicated to troubled young people! Contains 11 short stories, including the omnibus "Travelers."

Shinjuku in the 1950s. There were people from all over Japan who called themselves "Futen'' who had no job and no money, and lived day by day. The manga artist "Dan-san'', also known as Shogaku Shōji, who can't draw manga, plays the role of the face of such people...Shinji Nagashima's masterpiece series in the style of a personal novel, weaving together various human patterns!

The Mighty Atom Club magazine was launched after the grand success of the 1963 anime, "Mighty Atom" (Astro Boy). It was a part of the official fan club: "Mushi Productions Tomo no Kai (Friends Association)". It disbanded after Mighty Atom's initial airing on TV in late 1966. Based on Tezuka Osamu's manga series "Jungle Emperor" from 1950, one-shots started to appear in the magazine in March of 1966 (Vol. 20-28). Drawn by Tezuka's associates, these eight stories would later air as episodes from the first and second anime series. The Jungle Emperor chapters were never re-printed and stay exclusive to the original magazines.

This duo is also known for releasing the famous judo manga "Judo Issensen'' in "Shonen King'' during the serialization of "Challenger AAA''. Some readers may have been excited by the development in which the main character, nicknamed "AAA (Triple Ace)'' for his intelligence, courage, and action, escapes from an evil organization and strikes back against it. 1964 Tokyo Olympics. The father of the main character, Naoya Ichijo, loses a judo match and loses his life. After that, under the strict guidance of Shusaku Kuruma, Naoya uses special techniques such as "Hell Kuruma" and "Ebi Kuruma" to fight against foreign judoka and Japanese rivals in the original hot-blooded sports manga!
